About
Mission
The Manikaso Centre’s mission is to put in place conditions conducive to housing development among First Nations by providing awareness, education and support activities on financial literacy and housing.
The Manikaso Centre is proud to be an organization created by and for First Nations.
Vision
In addition to its field work, the Centre is a point of reference. It provides First Nations stakeholders with support, tools and documentation to help them work on housing and financial literacy issues.
The Centre is the preferred partner of First Nations communities to support them in making much-needed fundamental changes in the housing landscape, thereby increasing the quality of life of individuals and ensuring the financial sustainability of communities, as well as their economic and social development.
Focus areas
Developing personal finance management skills
Being able to provide a down payment for housing, having a good credit history and having a financial buffer to cover the costs associated with a home are all essential to gaining access to private home ownership.
It’s best to get started as soon as possible, because creating the right conditions doesn’t happen overnight. Personal finance awareness and education are the first link in the chain.
Developing knowledge of housing
Going from tenant to homeowner requires a certain amount of knowledge. It may even seem like an unattainable goal for some.
How do you get financing? What are the steps involved in building a home? How do you maintain your home? These are all issues that can act as barriers to those interested in becoming homeowners.
Awareness and education are the keys to making home ownership accessible.
